Game Two Players of the Week and Next Week

The Mustangs played their second game of the year against future Blue Springs South High School members, Delta Woods.  The pregame tunnel and fan support for the Mustang Nation Black Out was awesome!  Greatly appreciated!!!

The A game ended in a 20-20 tie that had many ups and downs.  The team isn't satisfied with their performance and have talked all week about not letting this happen again.  The B team continued to play well.  They earned a 26-6 win over the Gators.  The C team played on Wednesday versus Summit Lakes.  They fell in a contested battle 12-14.

Each week the coaching staff will select 2 Offensive Players and Defensive Players of the Week.  In addition, we will select an Impact Player of the Week.  The Impact Player is selected based on their performance and character. We are also recongizing student athletes for outstanding academic/citizenship in the classroom.  BCMS staff members will nominate student athletes each week.

Also...each game is photographed by the Upman family. You can view these photos on facebook under the page BRUTUS BRONCO.  You can search Brutus Bronco on facebook and view over 200 photos from the Delta Woods game.

OFFENSIVE PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
Jon Voss - Starting A team center had zero false starts, no bad snaps, and got a great push on running plays!  All while facing a nose guard all game long!  Good job, Jon!

Ivan Fontcha -  Another week of punishing the defenders with his running style.  Compact and low to the ground, Ivan ran hard!  Congrats on a second week in a row, Ivan!

 DEFENSIVE PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
Jackson Flanigan - Jackson did a great job stopping the toss play that Delta Woods ran.  He had 5 tackles for a loss in the tie game.  Keep it up Jackson!

Marcus Bradley - Made two huge stops on defense by defending the pass!  Great job, Michael!

IMPACT PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Alex Davenport - Alex played a tremendous game.  He caught a TD, kept contain on the edge in the running game, was our kicker, and made a huge play on Special Teams.  With the Mustangs trailing by 6 points with 3:40 left in the fourth quarter, Delta Woods punted to Parker Tootle.  Tootle was able to turn the corner because of devastating block thrown by Davenport!  Plays like this have such an impact for our team!  Great job, Alex!!!

OUTSTANDING ACADEMIC/CITIZENSHIP STUDENT ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Brendan Ellis - Brendan was nominated by the staff of BCMS for performance in the classroom.  He is a role model for other students and sets a high bar for achievement!  Great job, Brendan!!!

Next Opponent:  Pleasant Lea

The Mustangs play next against crosstown rival Pleasant Lea.  The game is at Pleasant Lea Middle School.  The Tigers A team is undefeated at 2-0 and the B team is 0-1-1.  The games will be very tough.  Come support the Mustangs!
