GAME SUMMARIES

A GAME
The Mustangs started the year with a bang!  With a full house, the Mustangs first offensive play resulted in a 75 yard TD by Nyles Thomas.  The Defense set the tone early and forced a 3 and out.  Play two for the Mustangs was a 55 yard TD for Jack Williams.  14-0 early in the 1st Quarter.  The game settled down and both teams fought hard for the rest of the half.  Moreland was able to complete a couple of long passes to make the score 14-6 at half.  The second half started with more fireworks as Jack Williams took a Moreland Huskie Kickoff back for a TD after the Huskies pulled within two at 14-12.  His return made it a 22-12 lead.  The most impressive part of the half came from the long drive engineered by QB Saul Medina.  Taking nearly half of the 4th quarter, The Mustangs were able to punch in another TD to gain a 30-20 lead.  Moreland then threw a interception and Jaret Crotts returned it inside the 10.  The Mustangs finished off the game with another TD and the final was 38-20.  Next up for them is the Bingham Blazers!

B GAME
A defensive battle the entire night.  Neither team was going to allow the other team to sniff the endzone.  The final 2 minutes of the game was an emotional rollercoaster. The Mustangs held the Huskies and got the ball with 20 seconds left.  Just enough time to throw one to the endzone.  The Huskies made the interception and had another chance for 2 more plays.  Play 1 was almost a pick 6 for the Mustangs.  Play 2 was completed over the middle but our FS laid the boom on the reciever as time expired.  The game ended in a 0-0 tie.

The C team will play this Thursday at Bingham Middle School in Independence, MO.
