The Mustangs opened the season with a pair of victories in Blue Springs against Sunny Vale Middle School. In the A game, the Mustangs raced out to a 32-0 halftime lead and finished the game as 40-0 winners. In the B game, the Mustangs finished off the night with a 20-0 victory. The coaches were really proud of how the team performed in their first contest of the season.
Each week the coaching staff will select 2 Offensive Players and Defensive Players of the Week. In addition, we will select an Impact Player of the Week. The Impact Player is selected based on their performance and character.
OFFENSIVE PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
Austin Alvidrez - Two touches....Two TD's. Great Job Austin!
Ivan Fontcha - A steady force in the B game. He carried the ball and punished defenders when they tried to tackle him. Awesome!
DEFENSIVE PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
Cameron Hairston - Cameron had two interceptions. The first being a major momentum shifter. Cameron intercepted the ball in the end zone on Sunny Vale's opening possession. Great job Cameron!
Dias Davidson - Dias had a pick 6 to put away the game against Sunny Vale. Congrats Dias!
IMPACT PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Carson Spaw - Carson was selected as this weeks Impact Player of the Week for his performance on one specific play. During the B game, a Sunny Vale running back broke free during a one score game. Carson didn't give up on the play and chased down the back and tackled him on the 1 yard line. The rest of the defense took over and made the goal line stand. It wouldn't have been possible without Carson's impact! Way to go, Carson!
Next Opponent: Delta Woods
The Mustangs play this coming Tuesday. It is a short week, with only two practices between games. A large crowd is expected because the school is holding a MUSTANG NATION BLACK OUT day. The students of BCMS will all wear black to school. They have been buying the black Mustang Nation t-shirts from our school store so fast that they have sold out twice. The kids are excited to play in front of their friends and families. The first game begins at 4:00 and the second game begins right after. Come out and support the Mustangs!
